Summary |
Every December Jean and Peter Ridley hook up their Caravan of Hope to bring Christmas cheer and joy (and toys for kids!) to the people of the bush. The Ridleys have been Salvation Army chaplains for 30 years, including six years as missionaries in PNG. They're based in Moree in north-west NSW so are on the road a lot, but their Christmas mission is the highlight of their year. That's when they hook up their caravan and spend a couple of weeks visiting small outback towns, bearing gifts and toys donated by big businesses and community groups. After the Christmas parties and carols they visit farmers and people in need, to listen and chat. Many people in the bush are still struggling with the legacy of the worst drought in living memory. Compass joined their outback odyssey to visit families doing it tough in western New South Wales capturing the spirit of their extraordinary bush Christmas mission.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Producers: Wendy Boynton and Richard Corfield.
