Summary |
Whilst psychological peculiarity has been generally emphasized as the cause of domestic violence, this book argues that the power relationships of sex and class must be analysed if more adequate explanations are to be found. The contributors discuss spouse abuse, spouse murder, incest and the roles of the police, courts, refuges and counselling services in dealing with domestic violence. Evaluations are made of the current methods of treatment of family violence and suggestions are made for social reform |
