We look at John Olsen's paintings inspired by Spanish cuisine and feature music by Pugsley Buzzard.Art Nation heads to Brisbane where host Fenella Kernebone explores the world-wide phenomenon of Pecha Kucha. From Beijing to Buenos Aires and now Brisbane's Powerhouse Museum, Pecha Kucha nights are forums for design talent. Beginning in Tokyo in 2003, this renowned design presentation format (20 slides, 20 seconds per slide) was pioneered by Klein Dytham Architecture. Pecha Kucha provides a relaxed forum for designers to present and showcase their work, skills and ideas.Art Nation also features Culinaria - The Distance of the Sun, a series of paintings culminating in a lavish book by John Olsen. Inspired by his love of Spain and of Spanish food, Olsen became fascinated with the vibrancy of ingredients such as onions, tomatoes and golden olive oil when melded together. In his words "it was alchemy. These sensations, visions have never left me.'' The result is a series of beautiful artworks, celebrated at a sumptuous lunch attended by Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver, who were recently in Australia.
