SAGE Research Methods. Cases
Summary Through a case study of my experiences as a researcher in (neo) colonial Puerto Rico, I illustrate the importance of locating ones self in the research process and share some of the unique methodological challenges and strategies employed to meet them that arose during my own fieldwork in la Iglesia Centro Cristiano Ciudad de Refugio in Nagüabo, Puerto Rico. Furthermore, this case study centers on the development of the methodology of true (reflexive) praxis through a description of the processes that led up to its formation. My hope is that researchers will appreciate the political nature of research and see the importance of situating themselves ontologically, epistemologically, and axiologically within the research process and of understanding how the way they see and live in their worlds has profound methodological and therefore political ramifications
