Summary |
This program explores the way in which Benjamin Britten's pacifist beliefs developed and informed so many of his compositions from the mid-1940s onwards, culminating in the War Requiem. The dramatisation of this often overlooked but crucial period of the composer's personal and musical development is interwoven with interviews, archival images and specially filmed performances of Britten's work.
