The High Court's Wik decision has removed long held assumptions about land tenure in Australia. Pastoralists and miners are uncertain and worried about the implications for pastoral and crown lands. Aboriginal groups believe the decision will have little impact. The Federal Government however is under state pressure to nullify the Court's judgement and extinguish native title.
