Summary |
The material on this DVD represents the nearest Australian database to a Census at the start of the 20th century. It covers the earliest surviving electoral roll microfilmed: NSW: 1903; Tasmania: 1903; Victoria: 1903; Queensland: 1903 (transcribed by QFHS); Western Australia: 1901 and South Australia: 1909 (excludes Divisions of Burra, Flinders, Frome and Newcastle whose rolls are not extant). It contains the details for approximately 1,800,000 voters. It is a re-release of the materal previously published by AIGS in two parts and titled Early Australian Electoral Rolls. All names are now in a single index, with searching enhanced by use of SFHSdatasearch, a generic interface developed by the QFHS for searching genealogy databases. The DVD also includes maps of division boundaries for all states (except SA), with maps linked to the search results and two tables within the database of enrolment numbers by division and subdivision |
