Summary *Coarse Language*This humorous and poignant film looks at a group of middle-aged men who have found unlikely success as members of Sweden's all-male synchronised swimming team, the Stockholm Art Swim Gents. What began as a weekly escape from the daily grind of work and family responsibilities, gradually evolved into a more serious commitment. They were inspired by classical Esther Williams' techniques from the 1950s after meeting prize-winning journalist Jane Magnusson, who wrote a book about the movie star famous for her synchronised swimming. After believing that they were the only all-male team in the world, they're surprised to discover that other countries also have teams, including Japan, Ukraine, Holland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Italy and Spain. They decide to enter what was the first unofficial All Male World Championship in the sport. The team hires a new coach, former Swedish champion, Katta Bachry, and enters the championship scheduled for April 2009 in Milan. The year 2009 was also a significant year for many in the team as over half of them turned 40. They reached the age when they took stock of their lives and asked themselves what they had achieved, and where they were going in the future.Men Who Swim looks at what it means to be part of a team and also what it is to be an individual at a crucial time in life. Funny and poignant, ultimately it's about realising that maybe you've already got everything you ever wanted.PRODUCTION DETAILSExecutive producers: Jerry Rothwell and Jonny Persey; Producers: Al Morrow and Erik Pauser; Directed by: Dylan Williams.
