Summary |
We visit a city beach and see some of the activities that happen before most people arrive - rubbish collection, a beach cleaning machine in action, lifeguards checking for the safest part of beach. We meet Madelaine who is a member of the Nippers club and find out some important beach safety tips, like where to swim, how to enter the water safely and what to do if you get into difficulties in the water. We find out that even when we live a long way from the sea, we can cause it to become an unsafe place for people and sea creatures to swim. The program also looks at different waves and how waves are formed. This series of four programs for lower primary science aims to increase an understanding and appreciation of various aspects of the sea.Different shorelines and depths of the sea are examined as places to have fun, as places to find food, and as places which support a great diversity of life that has adapted to the different environments |
