Summary A Dateline investigation reveals appalling conditions inside Nauru and Manus detention centres with new images and damning whistleblower accounts; After becoming virtually extinct in the US, wolves have been reintroduced, but what's celebration for some is tragedy for others and; India has high illiteracy, but a simple idea of showing Bollywood movies with subtitles is having a remarkable effect on reading skills.THE INSIDE STORYInhumane conditions, self-harming and mismanagement... we've heard the claims about life inside the Nauru and Manus Island detention centres. Now Dateline has the evidence of what's really going on there. In a special investigation to be screened on Tuesday, new video and photos reveal unsanitary and overcrowded conditions, plus there are damning accounts and leaked documents from whistleblowers. They've spoken in detail to David Corlett, host of SBS's award-winning Go Back To Where You Came From, to highlight the conditions facing asylum seekers trying to reach Australia. Among the string of allegations, he hears of women being denied underwear, security guards taunting asylum seekers and the fabrication of welfare notes.LIVING WITH WOLVESFor some, the sight of wolves roaming rural America is a cause for celebration... after becoming virtually extinct, it demonstrates that they've been successfully reintroduced. But for others in the US Midwest, the past 19 years are best described as a tragedy and a debacle. On Tuesday's Dateline, Aaron Thomas reports on the uneasy balance of nature which now sees sheep, elk and deer populations being decimated by wide-ranging wolf packs, And the farmers and hunters that have long relied on those animals for their livelihood are now lobbying for the wolves to be culled. How can people live alongside North America's largest pack predator?BOLLYWOOD LESSONSOne of India's biggest success stories, Bollywood, is being used to tackle one of its biggest failings, illiteracy. The country has the greatest number of illiterate people in the world, but a remarkably simple idea is gradually changing that. On Tuesday's Dateline, Amos Roberts meets Brij Kothari, who wondered if subtitling the song and dance numbers in films would teach people how to read. The results were startling, with young and old subconsciously learning their native written language. Now TV stations across the country are showing Bollywood films with subtitles. Brij reckons he could soon be reaching a billion people and has even bigger plans for the future
