Summary |
Australians love pet dogs and cats. But each year tens of thousands of them are killed, even when they're perfectly healthy. The RSPCA alone euthanised more than 56,000 cats and dogs last year. And that figure doesn't include all the animals put down at council pounds around Australia every day.In this episode of Insight, pet owners, breeders, animal shelter workers and even pets themselves will join Jenny Brockie to look at why Australia is euthanising so many dogs and cats. The forum asks whether pet owners are at fault or whether there are just too many animals being bred in the first place.Insight is hosted by Gold Walkley Award-winning journalist Jenny Brockie. The discussion continues online each week at sbs.com.au/insight, and on Twitter #insightSBS |
