Summary The book seeks to provide readers with a broad multidisciplinary perspective on copyright law and copyright infringement by presenting paired articles by lawyers and non-lawyers that address such key questions as the relationship between plagiarism and copyright infringement, the impact of robust copyright law on either impeding or promoting creativity, whether the strong copyright law can maintain its normative appeal in the face of a general public that has not been responding to campaigns against "copyright piracy," the legal boundary between illegal imitation and legal inspiration, and how copyright has changed over time and how such changes may relate to the cultural norms of creators in different fields, among other questions. The paired articles are presented in sections devoted to history, comparative law, economics, linguistics, computer software, information studies, literature, art, sociology/music, and criminology
