"The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) collects and analyses information on environmental issues and policies in the Asia-Pacific region in its efforts to release updates on the region's progress towards environmental conservation and a sustainable society. Since 1998, IGES has published major environmental news stories of each year in Top News on Environment in Asia. This year, it has compiled a total of 94 articles from 18 countries and 3 organisations. These news articles were chosen by fellow organisations or by researchers and were not necessarily the official viewpoint of each country and organisation. However, it is felt that the recent trends and issues of the environment in this region could be compiled."--Foreword |
