Four Corners celebrate 50 years on air with a special program that highlights the power and the passion of television current affairs journalism. Over five decades, Four Corners has created and defined the major stories at the centre of Australian public life. In tracing the history of Four Corners, producer Deborah Masters and editor Alec Cullen found broad themes that framed the life of the program: crime and corruption, social change, Indigenous affairs, war and conflict, immigration and politics. Tracking Four Corners' coverage of these themes over 50 years reveals a picture of Australian society developing and changing.There have been many firsts for Four Corners, and many awards, but the program's ultimate worth remains its ability to investigate, to expose and to reflect all aspects of domestic and international life. From Sunday 28 August, ABC News 24 will broadcast selected Four Corners episodes from each of the five decades the program has been on air.
